Personal Approach
My personal approach is about combining instinctive skills with experience and learned skills, to provide you with someone who not only listens, not only understands, but also has some real feeling for what you are going through.

From here we can look together at what you are hoping to achieve in counselling and how best that can be accomplished.

Clients need to be listened to , and for some un-burdening of unspoken troubles can be the most important element of counselling.
Others may be very clear about what they want to achieve and want to develop strategies for how they can realise this.

Most of my work is somewhere in between the above. I listen to your story, learn to understand you, your dilemmas and your needs and help you think of ways forward.
This is likely to include some looking at the past, but only to the extent to which it is useful.
At the end of a period of counselling I want you to feel more positive about the future, more in charge of your own future, and more resourced to deal with life's issues as they arise.
